Grayton Beach State Park

The state park beach.

This is the first state park in Florida we’ve camped at – definitely not the last.

I think we were on site 55, which became my favorite site. I remember looking at it thinking it was narrow, but actually it really opened up to a huge space which was so private. The dogs could just hang out without being distracted by people and other dogs walking by.

The best part about this state park is that it has full hookups, washers and dryers on site, and you can stay for 14 consecutive days and only have to check out for 3 in order to return for another 14. The cost is approximately $30/night.

The area is a beautiful one. The beaches on the “Emerald Coast” are beautiful. Soft, sugar white sand and plenty of it. Plenty of miles to take in on a bike or hike. Seaside is the closest community which is a beautiful place…easy to bike to with plenty of hitching posts.

There’s a lot in this area. Dune lakes, wildlife, outlet shopping, Destin Florida, tons of restaurants and bars, endless miles of beach. I’d like to get back here when it’s a little warmer. We were here in December and a lot closed down off season.

Watching Christmas movies outdoors! No bugs, no freezing temperatures, no problem!
