We joined the Wally Byam Airstream Club and these numbers are Tedy and Bennie’s birth date. I’m happy they were available!
We didn’t want to apply them directly on Ground Control and risk “ghosting” so we had a company called “Weathered and Worn” design this aluminum plate for us. They actually took a picture of our Airstream so as to replicate it. It was the perfect size to place the four numbers on it.
Another display we used is a smaller set of numbers on the back window. A fellow Airstreamer made this for us.

As for club membership, this gets us into rallies or caravans, but it also gives us great rates when staying at Airstream only campgrounds. It’s a great way to meet fellow Airstreamers and we end up saving money for stays at the parks.
Other memberships Include Harvest Host, Escapees, Good Sam’s, Passport America.
For example, we stayed for a month at an Escapees park in Alabama which cost us approximately $300. It’s a great deal.
if you have a senior lifetime National Park pass…which Mike does 😆 you can basically stay at a beautiful Army Corps of Engineers park (ACE) for $15/night. Usually 30/50 amp electric and water with a dump station on site.
It’s a learning curve. If you are trekking across the country or to a destination and you need a couple of overnight stops, we will use Harvest Host whenever we can. Dry camping on a farm, brewery, winery, museums or golf courses. We just become patrons wherever we stay.
